Altered Frame

This is an altered picture frame that I made for my husband's desk at work. A couple years ago we all dressed up as Pirates for Halloween, our daughter was a Pirate Princess. I have been looking for a frame for the picture. I gave up and decided to alter one instead.

I started messing with this wood frame that I picked up at the dollar store. (It did come with a glass panel but I removed it to take a picture.) I used Black Craft ink sponged the frame, than I used Classic Red Ink. Boy was that a mistake because when I Mod-Podge the frame the red ink made the frame have a pink hue, not what I was going for. Lesson learn...next time only use craft ink and do not mod-podge over classic ink.

So I took the frame back to the drawing board, so to speak. I sponged more black craft ink and than I decided to embossed it with clear embossing powder, wow that made a difference. I added the strip of Real Red cardstock and a leftover strip from last year's Halloween DSP. I added the two gold brads to match the gold coins on her shirt. The stamp came from the "Beware Pirates" stamp set (#115187, pg 81). This is one of the stamps in the "Growing Up" section of the catalog. Don't forget from August 1–31, get a FREE package of Designer buttons—a $7.95 value—when you spend $35 on stamp sets in the Growing Up section of the catalog.

My husband did love the frame and proudly took the frame into work, Yeah! If you have any questions, please send me an email or leave me a comment.

Thanks,
Karen
